Journal History

The University of St Andrews Law Journal was created in February 2020. It is run by an editorial board comprising students and staff and is published under the auspices of the Institute of Legal & Constitutional Research (ILCR).

Review Policy


Our Editorial/Peer-Review Process

This Journal uses a systematic review process at the discretion of the Core Team and Journal Manager(s), whereby – as part of the publications Process – the journal editor(s) select the most appropriate submissions for the current journal edition. Once a publication edition draft has been compiled, it shall be circulated and required approval from a majority of the editorial board (preferably unanimous) before being sent to Publisher prior to release.


Copyright is retained by the authors, as guaranteed by the rights established in the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act, 1988 (CDPA). The author grants to the University of St Andrews Law Journal – and its Publisher the ILCR – amongst other rights, an irrevocable non-exclusive right to license others to reproduce, republish, transmit, and distribute the Work in both print and electronic under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.
